ATC 2026: Conversations, Coffee, and the Future of Apprenticeships

The Apprenticeships and Training Conference (ATC) was the must-attend event of the year, arriving at a prime time for the apprenticeship reforms.

As experts, we had to be there. And true to our style, we went big.

We were there to chat about what matters: the apprenticeship reforms and how we can help organisations navigate the changes.

Leading on reforms

The apprenticeship landscape is evolving rapidly, and navigating these changes can be tricky for both employers and apprentices. At the ATC, we had a clear mission: share insights, break down the reforms into digestible information, and demonstrate how organisations can confidently adapt to the new landscape.

We’re experts for a reason. Years of hands-on assessment experience are only part of it. Since the beginning, we’ve been actively involved in Trailblazer Groups to guide the design and delivery of apprenticeship standards, and we’re continuing to bring that innovation into the new era of apprenticeship assessment.

As Emma Archbold, our Head of End-Point Assessment, explains:

“Through our involvement in Groups of Persons, we play a key role in shaping high-quality, future-focused apprenticeship assessment that reflects occupational needs.”

In fact, we contributed to the launch of standards like the Adult Care Worker and Playworker, ensuring apprentices are equipped with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required in today’s workforce.

We work closely with key stakeholders across the sector, playing our part in ongoing discussions on policy and delivery that influence the future of apprenticeships.

Our Chief Operating Officer, Kelle McQuade, who also serves as Vice Chair of the Federation of Awarding Bodies Board, says:

“I’m proud that my role enables TQUK to play an active part in representing our sector with external stakeholders, including Skills England, championing sector needs, reducing risk, and driving improvements that uphold the strength of the apprenticeship brand.”

Alongside this, we regularly consult with training providers to understand their priorities, ensuring assessment methods are both practical and effective. It’s this combination of sector involvement, expertise, and hands-on insight that positions us as the go-to experts in apprenticeship reforms.

Celebrating a day of success

No event is complete without a chance to unwind and continue the conversations in a more informal setting. After a day of sharing insights and exploring new opportunities, we took the energy to The Botanist, where we hosted a drinks reception.

With glasses of bubbly in hand, we connected with new and familiar faces, sharing ideas, answering questions, and building long-lasting relationships.

The Apprenticeships and Training Conference may be over, but our support doesn’t stop there. We’re on hand to support our customers every step of the way.
