Business Administrators help organisations become their very best by improving the administrative efficiencies within them. There are few limits on the range of industries in which their skills can be put to use, and as the role calls upon them to work with all teams across their company, day-to-day life is varied. Business Administrators must therefore have strong communication skills, the ability to adapt to change, and a dedication to learning new skills and encouraging that desire within others.
Apprenticeship Assessment Components
To complete their Apprenticeship Assessment, Business Administrator apprentices must achieve a pass or distinction in the following three components.
-
For the knowledge test, the apprentice must undertake a multiple-choice exam that lasts a maximum of 60 minutes and includes 50 equally-weighted questions. The knowledge test is available in paper-based or online forms.
-
The project presentation is delivered by the apprentice to the Apprenticeship Assessment Assessor. It’s an original project or a presentation focused on improving an existing process within the place of work and must answer a specific question, as determined by the Apprenticeship Assessment Assessor (for example, ‘How have you improved a process or operating practice?’). The presentation should last 10-15 minutes with a further 10-15 minute question-and-answer session following. It’s completed after the ninth month of the apprenticeship.
-
The portfolio-based interview lasts for 30-40 minutes and assesses the apprentice’s competence, self-reflection, judgement and understanding of their entire programme. The portfolio provides a structure for this conversation and is submitted to TQUK at gateway to completion. It consists of evidence of the apprentice’s understanding of the purpose of their organisation, the value of their role, their ability to produce records or documents, and their professional behaviours.
