T Level Foundation Course in Education and Early Years
Our endorsed T Level Foundation course provides learners with a balanced programme that helps them develop the essential technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to progress onto a T Level in Education and Early Years.
Who’s it for?
This course is for learners who would benefit from additional preparation and study time before starting their T Level in Education and Early Years.
The preparatory study programme helps them build confidence and independence through opportunities to engage with employers and make meaningful links between their learning and the world of work. Gives learners the opportunity for personal development and taking ownership of their progress.
How does it work?
The course is endorsed, not regulated, giving you freedom to contextualise learning and assessment, and align with local employer demand.
Fully mapped to DfE’s National Technical Outcomes, ensuring consistency with national expectations while allowing room for innovation. Complements the other Foundation year components, so it integrates naturally into the full learner journey.
What the course covers
The Foundation Year supports learners in making informed decisions about their next steps. To complement this, the study programme introduces the core principles and industry-relevant practices drawn from the National Technical Outcome (NTo) for the T level route to help them gain the foundational technical knowledge and skills they need to take their next steps.

How it’s assessed
Teachers are responsible for planning and determining the most appropriate assessment methods for students to demonstrate the skills set out in the content.
The specification does not prescribe a fixed approach, as this allows centres the flexibility to adapt delivery to their own context and to respond to the individual needs of students. Teachers should use their professional judgement to select methods that provide students with meaningful opportunities to apply and develop the required skills, whether in classroom, simulated, or workplace settings.
