Delivery of VTQ results for 2024 and beyond…

Important updates on the delivery of results for the TQUK Level 3 Design, Engineer and Construct qualifications.

Following our previous communication on 20th October 2023 in relation to Ofqual's statement regarding arrangements to ensure the timely delivery of results for learners taking vocational and technical qualifications (VTQ) this academic year and beyond, we can confirm that Training Qualifications UK (TQUK) is taking the necessary steps.

For further information, please see the letter here from Ofqual's Chief Regulator to Headteachers and Executive Leaders about the delivery of VTQ results for 2024 and beyond.

The following TQUK Level 3 Design, Engineer and Construct qualifications are in scope for these arrangements:

  • TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Design, Engineer, Construct! The Digital Built Environment (RQF) (603/2052/7)

  • TQUK Level 3 Diploma in Design, Engineer, Construct! The Digital Built Environment (RQF) (603/1993/8)

TQUK will work with schools and colleges to identify which learners need a result on or before results days in August 2024 for progression to further or higher education. The term-time checkpoints will be completed prior to May 2024 before the main exam season begins.

Results for these qualifications will be issued to learners by Monday 12th August 2024, before A level results day. This will give sufficient time for Exams Officers to check and prepare results for final release. We will continue to keep details of each school and college’s Senior Designated Contact (SDCs) up to date and will escalate any issues as necessary both during and outside term time as appropriate.

Term-time checkpoints

Our Level 3 Design, Engineer and Construct qualifications include two external assessments; one sat in a January series and the second sat in a May series.

Through the term-time checkpoints, we will contact all centres delivering these qualifications to ascertain which learners will require a qualification result to support progression to further or higher education. Therefore, given there are two opportunities in an academic year to undertake the external assessment, we will adopt the following checkpoints:

Checkpoint 1 (applicable to the January exam series) –  Friday 8TH December 2023.

In December 2023, we will contact all centres delivering these qualifications to ensure that learners requiring a qualification grade to support progress to further or higher education are correctly entered into the January exam series. The key dates for entering this exam series are outlined below:

January exam submission

  • registration deadline - 24th November 2023

  • registration deadline – 24th November 2023

  • reasonable adjustment deadline – 15th December 2023

  • exam date and time – 18th January 2024 (9am)

  • results date – week beginning 4th March 2024

  • appeals deadline – 28th March 2024.

During this checkpoint, we will ensure that all learners who need a qualification grade, have received a result for the assessment. We will also look to confirm which learners will likely be sitting the assessment in the May series, and this will be followed up at Checkpoint 2 as outlined below.

Checkpoint 2 (applicable to the May exam series) – 26th April 2024.

In April 2024, we will contact all centres delivering these qualifications to ensure that learners requiring a qualification grade to support progress to further or higher education are correctly entered into the May exam series. The key dates for entering this exam series are outlined below.

May exam/portfolio submission

  • registration deadline – 28th March 2024

  • reasonable adjustment deadline – 5th April 2024

  • learner attainment records submitted – 10th May 2024

  • sample request issued – 15th May 2024

  • exam date and time – 8th May 2024 (9am)

  • portfolio/evidence of internal moderation submission date – 24th May 2024

  • results date – week beginning 5th August 2024

  • appeals deadline – 6th September 2024.

As this is the final assessment opportunity for the academic year, we will ensure we have checked with centres and confirmed the learners who require a qualification grade have correctly entered for the examination by the deadlines and received a result on or before A Level results day.

Information for exam officers

If a learner is not identified as requiring their qualification grade for progression to further or higher education, they may not receive a grade on or before A level results day.
