Qualification of the Month: TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Bullying in Children and Young People (RQF)

Did you know that half of all young people in the UK have faced at least one form of bullying?

Here at Training Qualifications UK, we understand that everyone is unique, and should be comfortable with who they are. In support of Anti-Bullying Week, November’s Qualification of the Month is the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Bullying in Children and Young People (RQF).

Research shows that 40% of young people have experienced at least one type of bullying during the past 12 months.

How will this qualification help? The purpose of this qualification is to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of bullying. Learners will recognise the signs and understand the effects bullying has on children and young people.

We understand that bullying is not simply a ‘falling out’ and noticing the signs as soon as possible is vital in preventing bullying. Bullying can have a significant impact on a child’s life well into adulthood, that’s why it’s important to ensure we are able to prevent bullying and can act quickly when it takes place. It’s important to avoid misidentifying bullying, which this qualification can help with, as learners will be able to identify the first signs of bullying.

The Anti-Bullying Alliance is a unique group of organisations and individuals working together to achieve a vision of stopping bullying and creating safer environments in which children and young people can live, grow, play and learn.

Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated by The Anti-Bullying Alliance and takes place every November. Last week the campaign was kickstarted on Monday 14th November with Odd Socks Day, where children and adults wore odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique.

Katie Orr, Awarding Director at Training Qualifications said:Bullying can change the course of a person’s life and have longstanding effects on confidence, self-esteem and the ability to form meaningful friendships. Providing a safe, secure space for young people to develop into their personalities without fear of bullying is a key responsibility of us all to some degree. This qualification helps those who have the opportunity to protect children and young people develop knowledge and understanding of bullying as well as recognising the signs and understanding the effects bullying has on children and young people.”
