Exam Resit and Retake Requirements
Training Providers and Assessors can access End-Point Assessment Results via login to our Verve EPA system. Please use the following link to access the system:
A review of the feedback should be undertaken by Training Provider, Employer and Apprentice when a Fail result is issued. Once all parties feel comfortable, we can arrange a date for the retake to take place. Resits/retakes requirements will vary by standard, please find a breakdown of standards below.

We ask for a minimum of five working days’ notice for any requests.
First resit is free of charge, a charge of £25 will apply to each resit/retake after.

Adult Care Worker
One chance to resit within three months of receipt of results.
Result of resit will be capped at a Pass.
Advanced and Creative Hair
Resits/retakes must be taken during the maximum EPA period (a 3 month window from successfully passing Gateway); otherwise the entire EPA must be retaken.
Result of resit will be capped at a Pass.
Business Administrator
No resit/retake requirements.
Chef de Partie
If an Apprentice fails one assessment, they should resit as soon as. If they fail two or more assessments, a period of further training and development between 1-3 months must occur before a retake.
Result of resit will be capped at a Pass.
After a period of further learning, the number of attempts are reset so the Apprentice must fail two or more again to be put back into further learning.
Children, Young People & Families Manager
Apprentices must resit typically within a three-month period and retake typically within a six-month period but the result will be capped at a Pass mark.
In case of Apprentice absence, a Fail mark will be recorded unless there are serious extenuating circumstances which must be submitted as written evidence to the EPAO within seven days of the assessment date.
Commis Chef
If an Apprentice fails one assessment, they should resit as soon as. If they fail two or more assessments, a period of further training and development between 1-3 months must occur before a retake.
Result of resit will be capped at a Pass.
After a period of further learning, the number of attempts are reset so the Apprentice must fail two or more again to be put back into further learning.
Early Years Educator
Resits/retakes must be taken during the maximum EPA period (a three-month window from successfully passing Gateway); otherwise the entire EPA must be retaken. There is no limit to the number of resits or retakes.
Early Years Practitioner
A resit/retake is typically taken within three months of the issuing of results. All assessment components must be taken within a six-month period, otherwise, the entire EPA will need to be resat/retaken. There is no limit to the number of resits or retakes.
Result of resit will be capped at a Pass.
Healthcare Assistant Practitioner
Must attempt all components of the EPA on first attempt.
Retakes may only be arranged 1 month from the receipt of final results upon completion of all components and must be completed within 12 months.
Healthcare Cleaning Operative
Resits/retakes must be taken during the maximum EPA period (a three-month window from successfully passing Gateway); otherwise the entire EPA must be retaken.
Result of resit will be capped at a Pass.
Healthcare Support Worker
Must attempt all components of the EPA on first attempt.
Retakes may only be arranged one month from the receipt of final results upon completion of all components and must be completed within 12 months.
Hospitality Manager
On-Demand Test and Business Project must be successfully completed before moving on to the Professional Discussion.

Hospitality Supervisor
If an Apprentice fails 1 assessment, they should resit as soon as. If they fail two or more assessments, a period of further training and development between 1-3 months must occur before a retake.
Result of resit will be capped at a Pass.
After a period of further learning, the number of attempts are reset so the Apprentice must fail 2 or more again to be put back into further learning.
Hospitality Team Member
If an Apprentice fails one assessment, they should resit as soon as. If they fail two or more assessments, a period of further training and development between 1-3 months must occur before a retake.

Lead Adult Care Worker
One chance to resit within three months of receipt of results.
Result of resit will be capped at a Pass.
Operations / Departmental Manager
No resit/retake requirements.
Production Chef
Resits/retakes must be taken during the maximum EPA period (a three-month window from successfully passing Gateway); otherwise the entire EPA must be retaken.
Only a Pass is available to apprentices who have retaken or resat part of their EPA.
There is no limit to the number of resits or retakes.
Senior Healthcare Support Worker
Must attempt all components of the EPA on first attempt.
Retakes may only be arranged 1 month from the receipt of final results upon completion of all components and must be completed within 12 months.
Senior Production Chef
Resits/retakes must be taken during the maximum EPA period (a three-month window from successfully passing Gateway); otherwise the entire EPA must be retaken.
Only a Pass is available to apprentices who have retaken or resat part of their EPA.
There is no limit to the number of resits or retakes.
Team Leader / Supervisor
No resit/retake requirements.
