Reform of Basic Digital Skills: Withdrawal of funding approval

Here at Training Qualifications UK, we aim to keep you up to date with the latest news relating to our qualifications. This post will inform you of important information regarding the withdrawal of funding approval.

Back in March, we communicated that the ESFA published a list of Level 2 ICT qualifications in scope for withdrawal of funding approval from Monday 1st August 2022 as part of the reform of basic digital skills. This affected the following TQUK qualifications:

We have recently received queries concerning the defunding of these qualifications due to the status of the learning aim reference service (LARS), as the funding appears to have been maintained, with the end date for Adult Skills Funding stating 31 July 2023.

To confirm, the qualifications are only available in the local flexibility offer until 31 July 2022, as previously communicated by the ESFA. For devolved AEB, Mayoral Combined Authorities (MCA) and Greater London Authority (GLA) make the decision on what to deliver as part of AEB. Therefore, the category codes for MCA/GLA continue to be active.
